What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is a biostimulatory injectable that gradually stimulates your body’s own collagen production to restore volume and structure beneath the skin. It is ideal for treating age‑related volume loss caused by thinning bone, fat, or muscle mass.

Common Treatment Areas

• Temples
• Front and lateral cheeks
• Area in front of the ears
• Pyriform fossa (the deep area next to the nose)

How It’s Done

Sculptra® is injected using a blunt‑tip cannula, allowing for minimal skin entry points and reduced bruising. The product is placed deep beneath the skin, where it slowly builds a supportive collagen network over time.

Treatment Plan

• Typically requires 3–5 vials total, depending on the degree of volume loss.
• Usually 1–2 vials per session, spaced every 6 weeks.
• Results develop gradually over 3–6 months.
• Effects can last over 2 years, with small touch‑ups as needed for maintenance.

Pre‑Treatment Care

Avoid blood‑thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, Aleve, Motrin, fish oil, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, ginkgo biloba, garlic, green tea, flax oil, cod liver oil) for 7 days before treatment, if approved by your doctor. Avoid alcohol and fatty fish for 2–3 days before your appointment. Discontinue topical irritants (Retin‑A, retinol, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone) for 2–3 days. Do not schedule if you have been sick, had dental work, or had vaccinations within 4 weeks. Arrive with a clean, makeup‑free face; eat a small meal and hydrate before your appointment; plan for possible swelling or bruising.

Post‑Treatment Care

• Apply a cloth‑wrapped ice pack for 10–15 minutes at a time, several times on the day of treatment.
• Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days (“5‑5‑5 rule”).
• Avoid makeup and skincare products for 24 hours.
• Use gentle cleansers; avoid scrubbing or exfoliating.
• Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, hot showers/baths, and sun or heat exposure for 2 days.
• Sleep with your head elevated for 2–3 days to minimize swelling.
• Avoid dental work, vaccines, surgeries, tattoos, or permanent makeup for 4 weeks.
• Avoid laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments in the area for 2–3 weeks.
• Use SPF and avoid sunbathing or UV exposure until redness and swelling subside.
• Mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness may last up to 7–10 days.

Results are gradual and may take several months and multiple sessions for full effect.
